HISTORY: William the Conqueror!

This week we will be studying one of my favorite historical figures, William the Conqueror! You have learned a little about the Bayeux Tapestry with Mrs. Horner when you did your Beowulf project, this week we will study in depth the person who inspired it all.

Making of the Bayeux Tapestry
Monday, using our reading cards we will read and complete the worksheet:
William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings: Worksheet.

Tuesday, we will read from the reading packet:
How William of Normandy Conquered a Kingdom
The last two pages of this packet are drawing pages. You will draw 8 scenes illustrating the life of William.

Wednesday, we will learn about the Domesday Book, thats DOME, not DOOM! After William took over the English throne, he sent out officials to write down lists of everything he owned, all holdings (property) and people. These lists were all collected and put together in the Domesday Book. We will create our own Domesday Book. Each student will make a very detailed account of all their school holdings (property) and  bind it all together in a book.

Thursday, we will take a little time to complete our books then review for our Test over William the Conqueror on Friday.

Friday, William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings TEST!

Mission: On a piece of notebook paper, write down what day of the week you will have your test over William the Conqueror. Don't forget your "Secret Message" envelope will be hidden somewhere in our classroom on Monday.
