HISTORY: The Feudal System

Monday, retake The East-West Schism Test

Tuesday, we will begin our lesson on the social system of the Middle Ages called The Feudal System and discussing the hierarchy or social classes that developed during this time period. We will be reading from our reading cards and completing the worksheet: The Feudal System

Wednesday, to further our understanding of the hierarchy or social classes of this time, we will be making a booklet showing the different classes and what was expected of each class, what their jobs were, who they served and what their life entailed. We will be using the worksheet packet:
The Feudal System: Project - Life in the Feudal System

Thursday, our lesson will turn to the development of Heraldry. When a knight went into battle or tournaments, their faces could not been seen because of their armor, so they started to decorate their shields so their friends or enemies could recognize them. We will be discussing what colors, lines, shield shapes, and symbols meant. We will design our own shields by picking symbols that represent qualities about ourselves we would want displayed on our crest if we needed them today.

Friday, we will be making a pop-out castle after we read and discuss the importance of a lord's keep and castle and all that was needed to defend his fief and vassals. We'll be using our worksheet:
