HISTORY: Feast and Compare

In history class today we discussed the importance of the phrase "Above the Salt" and tried to familiarize students with a social aspect of the Middle Ages, with great feast being the focus of this lesson.

We also read the book "A Medieval Feast" by Aliki, a wonderful tale about a king coming to visit a manor and all the preparations that take place in order to offer him a wonderful feast.

Our homework this evening, is to write a few paragraphs comparing a medieval feast to a modern day feast; Thanksgiving or Christmas.
What kind of courses were served, do we decorate our food still?
Do we still provide entertainment before a big meal?
Discuss some of the similarities and differences between these two meals.
