LITERATURE: February 21-25

Happy President's Day (almost)!

On Monday, your parent(s) and I will be having a nice chat about YOU, and your work. You can sleep in and be lazy all day if you want to!

Since this is a short week, you will not have any spelling words and there will be no test on Friday.

We are starting a new novel, though, and I'm excited about it--it's one of my favorite books of historical fiction about the Middle Ages. And it takes place in one of my favorite countries of the word--England! (Part of it is even in Oxford, Olivia--where you'll go to school some day!)

I'll be giving you your copy of the book on Tuesday during class, and your reading assignments will begin right away. I want you to slow down as you read, though, and read for COMPREHENSION. You should be able to remember details about the setting, the plot, and the characters, and to make this easier, you will be asked to fill out a short chart each time you read a chapter. Your reading assignments are below:

HOMEWORK

On Tuesday, for Wednesday: Read Chapters 1 and 2, Adam and Nick for discussion. You will also fill out the "Following the Story" chart for a grade.

On Wednesday for Thursday: Read Chapters 3 and 4, Roger and The Road for discussion. Fill out your “Following the Story” charts as you read.

On Thursday for Friday: Read Chapters 5 and 6, Going to London and A Blush of Boys for discussion. Fill out your “Following the Story” charts as you read.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for Monday, Feb 28: Read Chapters 7, 8, 9 Jankin, Red in the Morning, and Night in Westhumble Lane for discussion Monday. Fill out your “Following the Story” charts as you read.
