Monday we will have a lesson over the development of Gothic Cathedrals. As society moved more and more away from Roman culture with the development of the Feudal System, the architecture of buildings began to change as well. You will learn what vaulting, ribs and flying buttresses are and what a clerestory is. Using your reading cards, you will read and complete the worksheet: Cathedrals in Europe.
Tuesday, we will have a reading packet and discuss what kind of people it took to construct such a building. You will then decide what kind of "apprentice" you would choose to be if you were on a building site for a cathedral. Would you want to be a mason, or maybe a mortar maker? We will use the reading packet: Cathedrals in Europe: Project 2
Wednesday, no class, Austin Field Trip!
Thursday, we will be creating our own stained glass window and reviewing for our test over Cathedrals on Friday.
Friday, Cathedrals in Europe Test
Mission: In the description of what we will be doing Monday, write down for me why architecture began to change. Also write down what day you will have your test over this lesson.
